Chappell gets down to work next week

Bangalore:Coach Greg Chappell will have his first serious interaction with the Indian players when the first of the three training camps for 36 probablesfor the tri-series in Sri Lanka gets underway in Bangalore next week.
Chappell, who assumed charge last month after John Wright quit the post, will be present in the first two camps -- to be conducted by physical trainer Gregory King -- before managing the final one from July 13 to 22.

"The first two camps will be conducted by King, but Chappell will be present there to watch the performance," Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary S K Nair said today.

The first camp will be held from June 27 to July 4 while the second is from July 5 to 12.

With Sourav Ganguly, serving a six-match ban for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct, being named as a probable for the series, Chappell has asked Sachin Tendulkar, who is undergoing rehabilitation following an elbow surgery, to be present in the final phase so that he could interact with allthe top players of Indian cricket.

Meanwhile, Nair said the Board has handed over the draft contract to the former Australian skipper who is expected to sign it "anytime".
