Mortal remains of Solkar laid to rest

Mumbai:The mortal remains of former India all-rounder Eknath Solkar, who died here yesterday, were cremated at Shivaji Park crematorium here late last night.

The funeral of the cricketer, who represented India in 27 Tests between 1969 and '77, was attended by former captain Ajit Wadekar, ex-teammate Dilip Vengsarkar, former Test captains Polly Umrigar and Nari Contractor and ex-India cricketers Bapu Nadkarni, Sanjay Manjrekar and Lalchand Rajput, Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) sources said.

Also present were other MCA officials, they added.
