This was announced by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister while addressing the maiden meeting of the newly-constituted Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council (JKSSC).
Mr Sayeed said the land would then be transferred to the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA).
The land for the stadium could be earmarked from the proposed sports village to be developed in Jammu, he added.
The chief minister said JKSSC should start working on the land identified for the proposed sports village while acquisition of the land for the cricket stadium could be taken up separately.
He also showed interest in the reconstruction of the Saifuddin Club building gutted during the attack on the Passport Office here.
