Sydney:The Pontings and Gilchrists of the future will get a chance to know firsthand the playing conditions in India when the Australian Under-19 squad tours the sub-continent in September this year.

The squad for the tour, involving five One-day matches against the India U-19, was announced by Cricket Australia (CA).

U-19 coach Brian McFadyen said the tour would provide players with some valuable experience in sub-continent conditions as well as give selectors an opportunity to view those in contention for a place in Australia's Youth World Cup squad.

"We're really looking forward to the tour and have selected a squad of players that we think is well balanced and capable of success," said McFadyen.

"This squad is by no means that which will be selected for the Youth World Cup, but it will certainly provide selectors with an insight into some of Australia's most promising junior players and give them a wealth of experience in sub-continent conditions as they continue their development into senior ranks," he said.

Squad: Jackson Bird, Patrick Darwen, Aaron Finch, Ben Gledhill, Moises Henriques, Shannon Hurn, Usman Khawaja, Jack McNamara, Graeme Skennar, Tom Stray, Chris Thompson, David Warner, Philip Wells.

Coach: Brian McFadyen.

Assistant coach: Matthew Mott.

Physio: Max Pfizner.

Schedule:

September 18 - Faridabad, September 21 - Mohali, September 24 and 25 - Dharamshala, September 28 - Delhi.
