Kolkata:Sourav Ganguly may be having a tough time on and off the field. But that hasn't detered Tata Steel from promoting him to the post of specialist, marketing and sales administration.

According to sources in the company, the deputy managing director (corporate services) Arun Narayan Singh had issued a circular on July 15 regarding Ganguly's promotion.

At present Ganguly is employed with Tata Centre, Kolkata.

It may be mentioned here that Ganguly, who is at present playing County cricket for Glamorgan in London is serving a six-match International Cricket Council (ICC) ban for slow over rate.

Ganguly has been named as the 16th man in the Indian squad for the tri-series in Sri Lanka, but his participation is subject to ICC clearance.
