Hyderabad:Defending champion MRF (Chennai) recorded a convincing, 261-run win against Jharkhand Cricket Association to move into the quarterfinals of the Coromandel King all India Moin-ud-Dowla Gold Cup invitation cricket tournament at the Railway Grounds here on Monday.

Chasing a mammoth target of 407, Jharkhand was never in the race losing wickets at regular intervals with left-arm spinner Vidyuth Sivaramakrishnan bowling a teasing spell to claim three for 16.

None of the Jharkhand batsmen made any real impact as they found the bowling of MRF too good to handle. Off-spinner Ashish Kapoor (two for 38) and medium-pacer T.Kumaran (two for two) were the other main wicket-takers.

Tuesday is a rest day for all the teams which completed their first pre-quarterfinals on Monday.

The three-day quarterfinals will be from September 7.
