Local cricket club files suit in Madras HC

Chennai:A local cricket club today filed a suit in the Madras High Court for a declaration that candidates who are nominees of an eligible zone or nominees of members of an eligible zone are entitled to contest for various posts to BCCI's managing committee at the Board's 76th Annual General Meeting at Kolkata.

In its suit, Netaji Cricket Club, a member of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA), also sought a direction to West Bengal Cricket Association President Jagmohan Dalmiya and his men or agents not to interfere in any manner in the conduct of the board elections to be held on Sept 22 and 23.

It also sought a permanent injunction, restraining BCCI, TNCA, BCCI President Ranbir Singh Mahendra and Jagmohan Dalmiya from interfering in any way with the right of the nominee of the eligible zone to contest for various posts of the managing committee and to restrain them from disqualifying the eligible nominee of the eligible zone or persons proposed by any member of eligible zone from contesting for posts of managing committee and the post of President of the Board.
