Kolkata:The two additional observers appointed by the Calcutta High Court to oversee the BCCI elections, left the AGM this afternoon following a division bench order staying their appointment today.

The two former chief justices of the Supreme Court K N Singh and M M Punchi emerged from the AGM, accompanied by former BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya, after they were apprised of the court order.

''We have had a telephonic communication with the BCCI counsel from Calcutta High Court and were told that the division bench has stayed the single bench order, under which the two additional observers were appointed.

''In this situation, our stay here is meaningless. We are bound to respect the order,'' Justice Singh told waiting reporters.

He said ''We are going to leave by the next flight.'Asked if the election could be held now, Justice Singh said ''it is up to the BCCI president to decide.''

Justice Punchi said they had not received any copy of the order.
