Ranchi:Indian cricket team manager Amitabh Choudhury, an IPS officer, went ahead with the Zimbabwe cricket tour despite his leave had not been sanctioned by the Jharkhand government was asked to join his duty immediately.

He has been recalled as his leave was not sanctioned by the Home department...He is coming back, state's Sports secretary N N Sinha told PTI here today.

Choudhary, a DIG ranked officer and considered close to Jagmohan Dalmiya, has been asked to resume duty as the Director, Sports, Art, Culture and Youth Affairs.

Sinha, however, denied there was political overtone to summon back the police officer.

"Choudhary left the headquarters, which he should not have done, in anticipation of his leave sanction. The Home department should sanction the leave if the duration is overthree weeks", Sinha said.

Asked was it proper on the part of the strate government to recall midway an official representing the nation with its prestige at stake, the secretary said that was not their look out as the state government was within its right to recall its officer as we also need his services ahead of the 2007 National games scheduled in Jharkhand.

Choudhury, also the president of Jharkhand State Cricket Association, has communicated the department of his arrival on September 26, Sinha said.
