Petition in SC against Calcutta High Court order

New Delhi:The cricket associations of Rajasthan and Bihar besides the Netaji Cricket Club of TamilNadu today filed a petition in the Supreme Court, challenging the removal of two Chief Justices of India as observers to the BCCI elections.

The petition also sought that the elections to the sports body be held before Sepetember 30.

The petition, mentioned by Advocate Ankur Chawla appearing on behalf of RCA, BCA and NCC before a bench headed by Justice Y K Sabharwal, also sought a Special Leave Petition against the Calcutta Hight Court order which was permitted.

The Bench, comprising Justice C K Thakker and Justice S H Kapadia, said the petition could be mentioned for hearing tomorrow.

The Calcutta High Court had retained only Justice S P Sen, a former Judge of Supreme Court, to conduct the BCCI elections.
