A Board official commenting on reports that disciplinary action was being contemplated against Inzamam for criticising the Board and embarrassing it in the media over his selection for the International Cricket Council (ICC) Super Series, said action could only be taken if he was under contract to the Board.
"The fact is presently neither Inzamam nor any other player is contracted to the PCB. Their old central contracts expired in early June. Theyve still to sign the new central contracts with us," he explained.
He said there was a clause in the central contract that forbids players from giving any statements against the Board even three months after the expiry of their old contracts.
Inzamam had lashed out at the PCB for making him believe he was picked in the World XI squad for the Super Series One-dayers and Test and blamed them (PCB) for not even bothering to convey to him that he was only picked for the Test squad.
He had announced his withdrawal from the Super Series Test in protest saying all he wanted was respect from the Board and other quarters and that he had been shabbily treated. He later reversed his decision of not playing in the Test on the insistence of the PCB.
