"Like last year the president (Ranbir Singh Mahendra) would form a committee which would have in it the selection committee chairman and coach (Greg Chappell) and there would be discussions with some senior players," BCCI secretary S K Nair told PTI from Thiruvananthapuram.
"The process of forming the committee and other modalities would start in a couple of weeks' time. The contracts would be put in place in November like last year," he said.
Last season 17 players were given graded contracts by the board with the top players put in the Rs 50-lakh retainership bracket, the middle level in the Rs 35-lakh group and the others in the Rs 20-lakh one.
Nair, slated to leave for Delhi later in the day to convene the senior national selection committee meeting tomorrow for choosing the three teams for the N K P Salve Challenger Series, said it may be known whether Sachin Tendulkar was available for the tournament by this evening.
"(Senior selection panel chairman) Kiran More would get the feedback from Tendulkar before reaching Delhi for the meeting," he said.
Tendulkar, recuperating from his elbow surgery which he underwent in May-end, has been advised to play in a domestic match before re-entering the international arena by the BCCI- appointed sports medicine expert Dr Anant Joshi in order to test how his elbow responded during a competitive match. He has already started light practice sessions.
