Rajkot:Sourav Ganguly confirmed his return to form with an entertaining century for East Zone in the Duleep Trophy tie against North at the Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Ground here today.

Ganguly, stripped of Indian captaincy and omitted from the squad for first two ODIs against Sri Lanka later this month, was batting on a sparkling 109 after cracking 18 foursand a six in the inter-zonal league match.

The left-handed batsman reached the three figure mark with a boundary off leggie Amit Mishra as East reached 234 for five in 60 overs at lunch on the second day.

The Prince of Kolkata had earlier picked up two tailend wickets with his Golden Arm that was struck with mild symptoms of tennis elbow only a few days ago.

East currently lead by 56 runs after North were bowled out for 178 in the first innings on the opening day.
