"We started on the script more than a year ago and a lot of work has been put into it. We are now into the third draft and hope to start to work on the film as soon as possible," Franz Cronje said in an interview.
He said the movie would not be based on the recent book, which was published on the life of his brother. He said the book had sold more than 30,000 copies in South Africa and there was a great deal of interest in the forthcoming film.
"The movie will be something special." Cronje said they had a lot of positive response from the people and they were just waiting to iron out one or two issues before they start shooting.
"We have not yet identified the person who will play Hansie Cronje but we have some people in mind.
"The person finally chosen will be named as soon as we start shooting," he said.
He said the film would be shot in South Africa, Australia, India and England.
Hansie Cronje died in a plane crash in George, 500km east of Cape Town two years ago.
At the time of the fatal plane crash, Cronje was banned from cricket for his alleged involvement in match-fixing in collusion with Indian book-makers.
