Indore:Guided by a 166-run fourth wicket partnership between captain Abbas Ali (98) and experienced Devendra Bundela (92), hosts Madhya Pradesh scored 241 for the loss of five wickets on the opening day of their Plate B Ranji Trophy match against Rajasthan at Usha Raje cricket ground here today.

Electing to bat first, Rajasthan speedster Sanjay Gill claimed two quick wickets of Naman Ojha (1) and Avijeet Verma (0) in first three overs. Gill again struck when he had former India player Amay Khurasia (8) caught by captain Ajay Jadeja.

Later, Bundela and skipper Ali provided the team much needed stability by playing cautiously and added 166 runs for the fourth wicket.

However, Bundela was prevented from scoring a century when he was caught behind by Dishant Yagnik off Afroz Khan. Abbas Ali also disappointed when he was caught by Rahul Kanwat with just two runs short of his ton.

Nikhil Patwardhan (20) and Sanjay Pandey (4) were at the crease when the stumps were drawn for the day.
