Hyderabad get two points by virtue in Ranji

Ananthapur :Hyderabad notched up two points by virtue of its first innings lead against Andhra inthe Elite B Group Ranji Trophy cricket match which has seen some bad blood and a scuffle between two players here today.

After gaining a first innings lead of 138 runs Hyderabad were bundled out for 80 runs with speedster K Shahbuddin claiming 7 wickets for 44 runs and hosts had a task of 220 runs to get an outright win.

Andhra started the chase in right earnest but lost wickets at regular intervals. A T Rayudu and MSK Prasad tried to stem the rot on a wicket which was helping fast bowlers.

MSK Prasad was out for 27 and Rayudu continued his innings with an elegant half century laced with one six and five fours. He was caught in the deep while playing youngster P Oja with the score reading 133 for 5.

It was at this juncture that a scuffle broke out between the close-in fielder Arjun Yadav and Rayudu. Other fielder however pacified them and Rayudu returned to pavilion.

K Sahahbuddin, who came in the place of Rayudu, was out for the first ball and play was stopped due to bad light giving Hyderabad two points for gaining first innings lead.

Match Referee Suresh Deo conducted an inquiry on the scuffle and the report will be submitted to the concerned authorities, ACA sources said.

Andhra is yet to open its account as it conceded first innings lead to Baroda in the first match and could not make its mark in this match. Hyderabad gained two points from thevery first match it has played this season.
