Mumbai:The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to keep its headquarters in Mumbai, but within the premises of the Wankhede Stadium instead of in the North Stand of the Brabourne Stadium, which is a stone's throw away.

"The Headquarters Committee, headed by I S Bindra, has decided that the BCCI headquarters would be housed inside the Wankhede Stadium in the new building, which is under construction," said BCCI's Executive secretary-in-charge Ratnakar Shetty yesterday.

"The total area would be around 10,000 square feet," he told reporters during the opening day's play in the Elite Division Ranji Trophy tie between Mumbai and Bengal at the Wankhede Stadium belonging to the Mumbai Cricket Association.

Mumbai Cricket Association president Sharad Pawar is also heading the BCCI and the decision of the cricket board puts at rest speculations that the headquarters would be moved outside the metropolis which needed a constitutional amendment with a two-thirds majority for it to happen.
