Laxman to lead Hyderabad against Services

Hyderabad:The return of stylish Indian batsman VVS Laxman serves as a morale booster to Hyderabad which will take on Servcies in the Elite B Group Ranji Trophy cricket match against Services to be played here from tomorrow.

The hosts lost to Punjab while picked up two points each from the matches against Haryana and Andhra to aggregate four points and will be looking for an outright win in the last match of the season to be played on home turf.

VVS Laxman, who returns to domestic cricket after a defiant century at a crucial moment in the third Test match against Sri Lanka at Ahmedabad, will be the pillar of Hyderabad batting.

Narender Pal Singh, who crossed the 300-wicket mark in the previous match, will be the strike bowler and is expected to make his presence felt against a relatively weak team.

Big scores are expected from Anirudh Singh and Arjun Yadav, who was fined 50 per cent of his match fees following the controversy involving Andhra batsman AT Rayudu.

Experiened Daniel Manohar and Vinay Kumar need to stand up to the occasion while youngsters Pragyan Ojha, PS Niranjan and Amol Shinde whould make best use of the opportunity.

Services, led by wicket keeper Sarabjeet Singh, has a strong batting line up consisting of Narender Singh, Yashpal Singh, Jasveer Singh and Sumit Tomer.

The star player of Services would be all rounder AK Mohanty and their bowling will be spearheaded by Fazal Mohammed and Sudhakar Gagh.
