Karnataka bag innings victory over Maharashtra

Bangalore:Udit B Patel and C Raghavendra grabbed four wickets each as Karnataka scored an innings and eight run victory over Maharashtra in a Ranji Trophy Elite Group 'A' encounter at M Chinnaswamy Stadium here today.

The visitors, resuming on 78 without loss, were all out for 144 giving the hosts their first win this season. Maharashtra had made 108 in their first knock.

The win, which came on the third day of the four-day encounter, gave Sujith Somasundar's side five points, including one for the innings victory, boosting their tally to eight from five encounters.

Maharashtra remain on four points from five fixtures. In fact, they were at 110 for two wickets at one stage, but the last eight wickets fell like nine pins for a mere 34 runs as Hrishikesh Kanitkar's outfit gave a poor account of themselves.

Brief Scores: Karnataka 260 Vs Maharashtra 108 and 144 all out in 52.2 overs (S Satbhai 57, Dheeraj Jadhav 29, Kanitkar 20; Patel 4/38, Raghavendra 4/46, Vinay Kumar 2/19).
