New Delhi:Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Niranjan Shah on Thursday said that chances of deposed Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly, who was dropped from the team, which was selected for the first Test against England, selecting again to national side were bleak.

In an interview with BBC Hindi Shah said that it looks difficult for former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly to make it to the national side in future, as the national selection committee's view was that Sourav's being in the team was not needed.

"Selection committee says it wants to look towards the future, it does not want to look backwards now. This is what Kiran More has said in his press conference," Shah said.

"I think Sourav Ganguly now stands a slim chance to play in future."

Shah said the national selectors wanted to give more chances to youngsters while looking towards the future.

"We have to build a team for the future, that is why the selection committee decided to give a chance to the youngsters. It is the selection committee's decision and they feel his being in the team is not proper," Shah said.

Asked pointedly whether Ganguly's career was over now, the BCCI secretary replied, "I think the selection committee feels and as has been said by Kiran More they now want to look towards the future."
