Trescothick quits India for ~~personal~~ reasons

Vadodara:Already plagued by injuries and fitness problems to the key players, England recieved a huge blow just ahead of commencement of three-Test series when their vice-captain Marcus Trescothick today decided to return home immediately, citing ''personal reasons.'' England coach Duncan Fletcher told mediapersons here today that Trecothick was going home for personal reasons.

''Please respect the player's privacy and do not ask any more questions on his return,'' the coach said.

Meanwhile, the England team management has called up Alastair Cook and pace bowler James Anderson to reach Nagpur, the venue of the first Test, by tomorrow night.

Already, captain Micahel Vaughan is on injury list and is a doubtful for the start of the first test on Wednesday due to the recurrence of a knee problem. Allrounder Paul Collingwood (back injury) and fast bowler Simon Jones (virus) are also grappling with fitness worries.

A sore back also forced batsman Kevin Pietersen to retire hurt on Thursday during the team's tour match against the Board President's XI, while paceman Liam Plunkett was unable to bowl on Friday during the same match due to a bruised heel.
