London:England's Chairman of selectors David Graveney today rejected suggestions that captain Michael Vaughan's withdrawal from the Test series against India due to a knee injury might have any serious bearing on his career.

''People will talk in those sorts of terms but let's not be too emotional about that and let's see what the medical advice is when he gets back to the UK,'' he told a radio station here.

''Michael Vaughan took part in the first practice game and there wasnt any problem.'' Vaughan, who was today ruled out of the match starting March 1, will return home to receive treatment on the injured knee.

Graveney also refused to comment on the sudden withdrawal of opener Marcus Trescothick from the tour due to personal reasons, saying, ''He wouldnt have left the tour if there wasnt a serious problem.''
