Addressing newsmen here, Mr Tandon said the Election Commission (EC) had taken note of the match before announcing the assembly election schedule.
He said the EC had decided to hold polls in Kamrup (Metro) district in the first phase on April 3 in view of the match, though the EC would have preferred polls in the district during the second phase on April 10.
Talking to UNI over telephone, Assam Cricket Association (ACA) media Manager Premadhar Sarma said preparations for the match had started since March 1.
'' We are preparing for the match. A team from Nimbus Communications will be arriving here tomorrow. Work on the pavilion, press box and other arrangements have already started, '' he said.
He informed that the ACA had requested the state EC to relieve the officials of the association from election duty and the latter had responded in the affirmative.
Police have also stated that adequate security would be provided for the match, Mr Sarma added. Pitch curator of Nehru Stadium Sunil Barua said work on the pitch and outfield was in progress.
