Lucknow:Despite tremendous cheers from the stands for former Team India skipper Sourav Ganguly, the elegant southpaw was bowled for 22 in the Ranji Trophy One-Day tourney semi-final at the K D Singh Babu Stadium here today.

Large number of youths holding placards had come to the K D Singh Babu Stadium to cheer up Sourav and wanted some good all round performance from him.

But Sourav failed to live up to the expectations even as the public cheered for each of his shots.

He was clean bowled by Railway pacer Harwinder Singh, when his score was only 22.

Murtaza, a local cricketer said he along with his friends had made several placards to boost the temperament of Sourav, but all their efforts failed.

The spectators, also, turned dejected when Sourav refused to oblige autograph hunters and left the ground immediately after his return to the pavilion.
