Mumbai:Injury-hit England cricket team received another jolt today with pace spearhead Steve Harmison being ruled out of the One-day series against India while Matthew Hoggard was named the replacement for the five-match series starting in Delhi on March 28.

According to a England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) release, arrangements are being made to bring Harmison back from India and Hoggard, who was scheduled to return after the Test series, has been asked to stay back.

England is already without regular captain Michael Vaughan, pacer Simon Jones and spinner Ashley Giles while opener Marcus Trescothick has also returned home citing personal reasons.

Harmison suffered a bone stress injury to his right shin during the second Test in Mohali which India won to go 1-0 up in the three-match series.

ECB Chief Medical Officer Dr Peter Gregory said, ''Stephen is still experiencing pain in his right shin and with the Test Series against Sri Lanka due to start in early May, we have decided that the safest course of action is to rest him from the forthcoming One-day series here in India.'' ''He has been advised to rest the injury pending a further re-assessment in the UK,'' he added.
