London:The ICC has asked England to host the 2019 World Cup but they might be told to stage the 2015 edition of the cricketing extravaganza instead if the Asian countries fail to submit their bid for the event.

England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) had submitted its bid for both the 2015 and 2019 World Cups and a clear picture will emerge after the April 30 ICC Executive Board meeting which decides the fate of the Asian bloc's bid for the 2011 World Cup.

According to ECB Chief Executive David Collier, if the Asian bloc -- comprising India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh -- submits a joint bid for the 2011 World Cup by April 21, the renewed deadline to make the submission, then England will have to withdraw from the 2015 race.

Collier also informed that the ECB has also bagged the rights to hold the inaugral Twenty20 World Cup in 2009.

However, the ICC's final stamp of approval will come in July when it holds its Annual Conference here.

''The summer of 2009 promises to be a true festival of world cricket throughout England and Wales. The ICC Twenty20 World Championship will be the first one in which all full member nations must take part,'' Collier said.
