Proteas elect to bat in third Australia Test

Johannesburg:South Africa won the toss and decided to bat in the third and final Test against Australia at the Wanderers Stadium.

Australia, who won the first two two Tests, Friday named an unchanged team for the third successive match while South Africa made one change.

Jacques Kallis captained South Africa for the first time after Graeme Smith suffered an injured left ring finger during fielding practice Thursday.

Kallis became South Africa's 31st Test captain. Boeta Dippenaar replaced Smith as an opening batsman.

Smith was diagnosed with a severe soft tissue injury and will wear a splint for 10 to 12 days.

Australian opening batsman Justin Langer was playing in his 100th Test.
