Guwahati prepares for India-England ODI

Guwahati:Hectic preparations are on at the Nehru stadium here for the fifth ODI between India and England on April 9, Assam Cricket Association sources said today.

Mr Rudi Koertzen of South Africa and Mr A V Jaiprakash of India would be the field umpires, while Mr V Sivaraman and Mr R Subramanium would be the third and fourth umpires respectively.

Preparation pitch preparation was taken up in the last week of January and curator Dr Sunil Baruah was giving finishing touches to the pitch.

BCCI pitch committee member Prabir Mukherjee, who visited the venue earlier, had expressed satisfaction, sources said.

Asom had earlier conducted 11 ODI matches. A souvenir would be released on the occasion and Abu Nachim Ahmed, who represented India U-19 team in the World Cup, would be felicitated.

Sale of tickets ranging from Rs 300 to Rs 3000 would begin tomorrow at the UNO bank counter adjacent to the stadium.

Altogether 17,850 tickets would be on sale. A few tickets have been reserved for students and disabled persons at Rs 150 and Rs 100 respectively, the sources added.
