Bangalore:Ace leggie Anil Kumble yesterday exuded confidence that he would make it to the One-day international (ODI) team to be selected for the World Cup to be played in West Indies next year.

''I am in the scheme of things and looking forward to put in my best performance,'' he said, replying to queries from reporters, after he was felicitated by the Karnataka Government for bringing laurels to the state by bagging 500 Test wickets.

Kumble, who had been dropped from the ODI team, said the current team was performing well and delivering its best.

Stating that it was always good to be part of the team selected for both the versions of the game, he said ''At present I am enjoying my break and looking forward to go to West Indies to play the next Test series.'' On his proposed Sports Academy, he said it was still at the conceptual stage. Though the Academy would focus on cricket, it would also accommodate a few more sports disciplines. Land for the project had not been identified yet, he added.

To a question, Kumble said he had no plans of retiring from the game. ''I have a lot of cricket in front of me. I am eyeing to perform higher in the coming days.''
