Bangladesh elect to bat in first Australia Test

Fatullah:Bangladesh skipper Habibul Bashar won the toss and decided to bat in the first Test against Australia at the Narayanganj Osmani stadium here.

The second and final Test will be held in Chittagong from April 16.

Bangladesh have lost both their previous Tests to Australia by innings margins.

Bangladesh: Habibul Bashar (capt), Khaled Mashud, Javed Omar, Rajin Saleh, Mohammad Ashraful, Shahriar Nafees, Aftab Ahmed, Mohammad Rafique, Enamul Haque, Mashrafe bin Mortaza, Shahadat Hossain.

Australia: Ricky Ponting (capt), Adam Gilchrist, Matthew Hayden, Damien Martyn, Michael Hussey, Michael Clarke, Shane Warne, Stuart MacGill, Brett Lee, Jason Gillespie, Stuart Clark.

Umpires: Aleem Dar (PAK) and Nadeem Ghauri (PAK), TV umpire: Nadeer Shah (BAN)

Match referee: Jeff Crowe (NZL)
