Farooq elected lifetime President of JKCA

Srinagar:Former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah was today elected as the lifetime President of the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) in the JKCA election which held today after three years. Mehboob Iqbal and Mir Manzoor Gazanfar were declared elected unopposed as the Chairman and Treasurer of the JKCA respectively. Salim Khan defeated Moti Lal Nehru 55-7 for the post of General Secretary in the election.

For the Srinagar wing, Manzoor Wazir and Majid Drabu were elected unopposed as Vice-Chairman and Joint Treasurer respectively. Imtiyaz Zargar defeated Mohammad Maqbool 55-7 in the contest for the post of Joint Secretary.

Shyam Saroop, Sumit Sharma and Tilak Singh were elected unopposed Vice-Chairman, Joint Secretary and Joint Treasurer respectively for Jammu wing,.

Mehboob Iqbal said that the Association would make serious efforts for improving the cricket facilities in the state, while talking to UNI after being elected as the Chairman.The JKCA will also upgrade the facilities at the Sher-i-Kashmir cricket stadium here to make it fit for international matches.
