It was at this stadium of the KSCA that both grew with bat and achieved international status by playing in more than 100 Tests besides One-Dayers.
Speaking on the occasion the KSCA secretary Brijesh Patel said, the state has produced many cricketers who brought laurels not only to the state but also to the country and the acheivement of both Rahul Dravid and Anil Kumble in the international cricket was immense.
Karnataka Minister for Higher Education D H Shankara Murthy, in his address, said that the cricketers from Karnataka not only brought to laurels to the country by their admirable feat in the field of cricket but also won the hearts of cricketers from their simplicity and humbleness.
Both Rahul Dravid and Anil Kumble were presented mementoes, scroll of honour and also a cheque for Rs 10 lakhs each in recognition of their contribution to the cricket.
Speaking after receiving the honours both the cricketers expressed their gratefulness to all those who helped to build their cricketing career.
Former veteran cricketers E A S Prasanna, Syed Kirmani, Javgal Srinath, KSCA president Ram Prasad, Dravid's mother Pushpa Dravid, in their addresses, lauded the contribution by the duo.
