Rain delays second day start of Edgbaston Test

Birmingham:Rain delayed the scheduled 11am local time (1000GMT) start of the second day of the second Test between England and Sri Lanka at Edgbaston, the umpires instead holding an inspection.

England, having lost the toss, were 138 for three in reply to Sri Lanka's first innings 141, a deficit of three runs.

Kevin Pietersen was 30 not out and Matthew Hoggard two not out.

The three-match series was level at 0-0 after the first Test was drawn.
