London:Former India skipper Sourav Ganguly agreed to join English county side Northamptonshire on a short-term deal to replace Chris Rogers who has been selected for Australia A.

Ganguly will be available for Northamptonshire from June 25 when they take on Nottinghamshire in the C&G Trophy.

Northamptonshire coach Kepler Wessels said: "Ganguly is a very exciting player to watch, he is a tremendous batsman and will be highly motivated as he is keen to win back his place in the Indian Team."

Chief executive Mark Tagg said: "We are delighted Ganguly has signed, it took a while to finalise but we were never worried as we had had verbal confirmation.

"He will be a very exciting player, particularly in the Twenty20 Cup matches."
