India win toss and elect to bat in first Test

St John's:India recovered from a shaky start in the first Test against West Indies as Sehwag and Laxman look in good touch with the bat after they lost the opener Wasim Jaffer cheaply. India were 43 for the lose of one wicket after captain Rahul Dravid won the toss and chose to bat in the first Test of the four-match series here today.

India go into the match with three seamers and spinner Anil Kumble. The team also plays six batsmen. Pace spearhead Irfan Pathan and ace offie Harbhajan Singh made way for greenhorn seamer Vikram Rajvir Singh and veteran leggie Anil Kumble

West Indies have also fielded an attack of four seamers and one spinner.
