According to JKCA Chairman Mehboob Iqbal, the winter capital would witness quality cricket wherein many national and international cricketers were likely to be showing their prowess for their teams.
He said that Zonal Fixture Committee held its meeting in Srinagar recently and with the consent of the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) allotted all the 15 North Zone Matches to JKCA. The committee also allotted Polly Umrigar and C K Naidu Trophy matches besides two matches of Deodhar Trophy for the first time to JKCA.
The first match of Deodhar Tophy between East Zone and West Zone and second match between North Zone and South Zone are scheduled to be played from February 28 and March 3 respectively.
Reiterating commitment on quality cricket in the state Mr Iqbal said that matches would be played at GGM Science College Hostel Ground and MAM Stadium here, Udhampur stadium and in Srinagar. He said the pitches of these grounds were being prepared to level of national standard and first class cricket.
JKCA Chief said according to Fixture Committee programme, prior to Deodhar and Ranji matches J&K will take on Delhi in Polly Umrigar U-17 match at Jammu from November 16 to 18. Srinagar will host two CK Naidu U-22 matches in the month of October.
''Experts from the four zones shall remain present in the city to select talented cricketers and simultaneously they would play against youngsters from different districts, which would be helping us in picking up the best stuff,'' he said.
Fixtures of matches:
Poly Umrigar Tophy U-17: Delhi vs. J&K from November 16 to 18 in Jammu.
CK Naidu U-22: J&K vs. Haryana and Delhi Vs. J&K at Srinagar in October.
Ranji Trophy One Day limited overs : All 15 matches shall be played in February at Jammu.
Deodhar Trophy Tournament on Zonal basis : East Zone Vs West Zone on February 28 at Jammu.
North Zone Vs. West Zone on March three at Jammu.
