At the IIT-Chemplast ground, resuming their first innings at the overnight score of 336 for 6 in 8 overs, and ten overs of batting left, SPIC TNCA XI scored 395 for seven. Overnight batsman, left hander S Sharath remained unbeaten on 62(87 balls, five fours, one six). For Andhra, off- spinner Y Venugopala Rao was the most successful bowler claiming three for 39.
However, Andhra batsmen failed to force a lead and were all out for 273 in 75.2 overs to concede a crucial 122 run lead to SPIC TNCA XI. B Sumanth top scored with 81 off 128 balls with the help of 11 fours and a six.
With Venugopala Rao, who made 47(58 balls, seven fours) Sumanth added 89 runs off 22 overs, the only purple patch in the Andhra innings.
SPIC TNCA XI's left arm spinners C Suresh(3-72) and S Vidhyut (3-31), and medium pacer D Tamlkumaran (2-38) contained the Andhra batsmen.
