Challenger Trophy selection on September 25

Mumbai: The India Seniors, 'A' and 'B' teams for the NKP Salve Challenger Trophy to be played in Chennai before the ICC Champions Trophy will be selected on September 25.

The Challenger Trophy one day tournament will be held from October 1 to 4 in Chennai and will be played between the top 36 Indian players divided into three teams, Niranjan Shah, secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said here.

This tournament gives the players an opportunity to showcase their talent in front of the selectors. The senior players who have been struggling for form use it for getting back into form in front of the selectors, while the youngsters can use this tournament to make their presence felt in front of the selectors.

During the last tournament, it helped youngsters VRV Singh and Piyush Chawla to break into the Indian team based on their performance in this tournament.
