Hyderabad: Notwithstanding the treatment meted out to him by national selectors, former Team India skipper Sourav Ganguly seems to be gaining more sympathy from his fans.

A large number of fans turned up to see the Prince of Kolkata in action in the pre quarter-finals of the All India Moin-ud-owlah Gold Cup cricket tournament for the second day today, in which Bengal is playing against Mumbai.

Play had to be stopped a couple of times yesterday as fans rushed into the grounds to wish Sourav good luck and take his autographs.

Security at the Secunderabad Gymkhana, the match venue, was minimal as most were on duty for Ganesh immersion ritual.

The fans shouted slogans for Sourav's inclusion in the Indian team. They cried ''Sourav Bharath Ka Gaurav'' and shounted slogans against Selection Committee Chairman Kiran More and coach Greg Chappell.
