London: After flummoxing batsmen around the world with his flippers, googlies and top spins, Shane Warne showed that he can bowl bouncers too, and with aplomb, in a bizzare 20-minute session when the ace leggie lost his cool as the rival captain refused to declare despite a healthy lead in a county match.

Hampshire skipper Warne apparently took an exception to his Lancashire counterpart Mark Chilton's refusal to declare despite holding a big lead.

Infuriated Warne bowled a series of bouncers, threw the ball 20-feet up in the air from a standing start and even made his wicketkeeper bowl as the match ended in farce.

The game petered out to a draw, with Lancashire determined not to relinquish their second place to Hampshire.

Defending his actions, Warne said, ''Coming into the day and after losing a day through rain, we thought we were going to get a game. They were 430 ahead with 60 overs left and still didn't declare -- it was ridiculous.'' ''I started throwing some lob-ups to see if they wanted any more runs but that didn't work,'' he said and added he did not regret his act.

''I was proud of our guys and the umpires congratulated us on our conduct,'' the leggie was quoted as saying by BBC Sports.

Even Chilton later regretted his decision of not declaring.

''We definitely didn't want to lose the game so we were going to bat ourselves into a very strong position,'' said the Lancashire captain adding, ''after lunch there was a window of opportunity in which we could, and should have perhaps, declared.'' ''But after Hampshire started throwing the bowl 20 feet into the air we decided it would be inappropriate,'' he said.
