Mumbai won the toss and elected to bat. They lost their first six wickets for a meager 88 runs in 15.3 overs. However Nishit Shetty (66 not out, inclusive of 8 fours) and Ankit Redkar (30) propped up the score to 227 in 50 overs. Sandeep Singh (3 for 50), Alind Naidu (3 for 25) and Akshay Wakre (2 for 20) were the main wicket takers for World Cricket Academy.
WCA began by losing their first wicket with one run on the scoreboard when opener Abhishek was run out by a direct throw.
Then Faiz Fazal (59) and Alind Naidu (30) were involved in a second wicket stand of 81 runs in 15.3 overs. Later in the innings Vijay Singh (49) enabled WCA to post their highest total of the tournament, 193 all out in 46.2 overs.
Abhishek Nair (3 for 21) and left arm spinner Iqbal Abdullah (4 for 17) were the most successful bowlers for Mumbai Cricket Association.
This win took the Mumbai Cricket Association to the top of pool C to set up a quarter final clash with star studded ONGC tomorrow.
