Mankad named as new coach of Baroda Ranji

Vadodara: Former Mumbai coach Ashok Mankad was appointed as the new coach of the Baroda Ranji team for a two-year term.

The appointment of Mankad was approved by the Cricket Improvement Committee (CIC) of Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) which met here today under the chairmanship of Samarjitsinh Gaekwad.

BCA vice-president Gunavant Oza said, Mankad would formally take over the charge at the BCA office at the Motibaugh ground here tomorrow and meet the Ranji probables.

Mankad, who had served Mumbai, Madhya Pradesh and Air India for about 15 years as a coach, replaces Balwinder Singh Sandhu, who had shifted to Madhya Pradesh for the coming Ranji season after completing his two years term in BCA, Oza said.
