''While everyone hailing him as the new allrounder last season, I'd always maintained that Irfan was a bowler, who could bat a bit,'' Dravid told medipersons here today.
''Irfan is primarily a bowler. Nobody has told him that batting well will compensate for poor bowling. And he knows it,'' Rahul Dravid said adding, ''he himself has said 'batting well has no relevance to my bowling.'' However, the captain hoped that the youngster had it in him to stage a comeback.
''We have full faith in him. We know him and value his performance. He's been a tremendous performer over the past couple of years. It was because of him that we were able to play with five bowlers.
''Having said that in the end it is you who control your own destiny,'' Dravid added the footnote clearly indicating the bowler had to work his way back to the squad.
