The administrative head of the BCCI Prof Ratnakar Shetty said here that Mr Vengsarkar would be leaving for South Africa only after November 30, the day when the Indian squad for the three-Test match series that follows the ongoing five match One-day series would be selected.
Speaking further about the travel plans of Mr Vengsarkar, Prof. Shetty said his date of departure for South Africa would be decided when he attends the November 30 meeting. ''The plan is he would reach there before the first Test (to be held from Dec 15 to 19 at Johannesburg),'' he added.
Mr Vengsarkar was yesterday asked to proceed to South Africa by BCCI president Sharad Pawar after a public outrage following India's heavy loss to South Africa in the first one-dayer on Wednesday.
The team's dismal performance also figured in the Parliament where members cutting across party lines called for the sacking of the coach Greg Chappell and asked the board to take remedial measures to improve the team's performance.
