Naik, Trish help Indian eves thrash Lanka

Jaipur:Brilliant unbeaten knocks by S Naik (79) and Trish Kamini(60) helped defending champions India overcome Sri Lanka by 10 wickets in the Women Asia Cup cricket tournament at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium here today.

With this win, India gained five points including one bonus point.

India won the toss and decided to field. The decision was proved right when Sri Lanka could muster only 145 runs for 8 wickets in stipulatd 50 overs.

In reply, hosts India achieved the target of 146 runs without losing any wicket. India won the match with a six over long on, hit by S Naik off Swini De Alwis in the 33rd over of the innings.

S Naik 79 runs came in 93 balls with 11 fours and one six while Trish Kamini hit 60 runs off 96 balls with five fours.

Captain Shashikala Siriwardana was the top scorer for Lanka with 40 runs.

Priti Dimri grabbed three wickets for 14 and Trish Kamini took two wickets for 38.
