Sri Lanka rest Murali, Vaas for India series

Colombo:Sri Lankan cricket selectors have decided to rest their main strike weapons Muttiah Muralitharan and Chaminda Vaas for the upcoming four-match one-day series in India.

Left-arm paceman Nuwan Zoysa and Nuwan Kulasekera, a right-arm medium pacer, were recalled Wednesday to support leg spinners Malinga Bandara and Upul Chandana.

Russel Arnold also won a recall at the expense of the up and coming batsman Chamara Kapugedera, who was named a standby.

The first one-dayer will be played on February 8 in Pune, western India, followed by Rajkot on February 11, Goa on Febrary 14 and Visakhapatnam on Februry 17.

The squad: Mahela Jayawardena (Capt), Kumar Sangakkara (wk), Sanath Jayasuriya, Upul Tharanga, Marvan Atapattu, Russel Arnold, T.M Dilshan, Chamara Silva, Malinga Bandara, Upul Chandana, Farveez Maharoof, Lasith Malinga, Nuwan Zoysa, Dilhara Fernando and Nuwan Kulasekera.
