Kolkata:Light showers have halted play in the first One-day international between India and Sri Lanka at the Eden Gardens here.

Sri Lanka were 102-3 in 18.2 overs after being sent in to bat when umpires Simon Taufel and Suresh Shastri ordered the players off the field on Thursday.

Opener Sanath Jayasuriya was at the crease on 63 off 61 balls and former captain Marvan Atapattu was on five.

Rain had been forecast during the day-night match, which began under an overcast sky.

The four-match series is the last for both teams before the World Cup opens in the Caribbean on March 13.
