SZ Ranji: K~~taka clinch Subbaiah Pillai Trophy

Hyderabad:Karnataka emerged champions in the K S Subbaiah Pillai trophy South Zone one day cricket tourney defeating Hyderabad by six wickets in the final league match here on Friday.

While Tamil nadu defeated Kerala by 46 runs, Goa won by eight wickets against Andhra in the last league outings.

Karnataka, unbeaten throughout the tournament, got 25 points in their five matches. Tamil Nadu, with 18 points, remained second while Kerala with nine points were in third position.

Karnataka and Tamil Nadu qualified for the National-level Ranji one day Cricket to be held in West Zone later.

Karnataka opener Rohit Barrington was the player of the tournament while Shahbuddin of Andhra was the adjudged as Best Bowler.

Hyderabad 189 in 50 over(N Arjun Yaav 56, P Shashank Nag 20, Ibrahim Khaleel 22, Amol Shinde 21 n o; Dhanunjay 2 for 53, Sunil Johsi 2 for 18, Raghu 2 for 32) lost to Karnataka 190 for 4 in 44.5 overs ( Bharat 45, Rowland Barrington 36, C Raghu 45, Deepak Chowgle 44 n o; P Indra Shekar Reddy 2 for 34) by 6 wickets.

Andhra 158 in 41.4 overs (A S K Varma 38, D Prabu Kiran 32, M Shashavali 22, K S Shahbuddin 16, K Kalyan Krishna 17; Saurav Banekar 2 for 41, Ryan D'Souza 2 for 37, Sahadab Jakati 2 for 20) lost to Goa 160 for 2 in 37.4 overs (Swapnil Asnodkar 83, Rohit Asnodkar 24, Shail Dhuri 29) by 8 wickets.

Tamil Nadu 330 for 4 in 50 overs ( M Vijay 112, N Einstein 92, S Badrinath 64, Hemang Badani 41 n o; P Parameshwaran 2 for 53) beat Kerala 284 for 7 in 50 overs, (Raphi Vincent 105, C Jagadeesh 45, Sambasiva Aarma 32, Manikanden 26, Vinyan G Nair 26, Anil Kumar 20 n o; Tamilkumaran 2 for 63) by 46 runs.
