England captain Charlotte Edwards's fine knock of 86 off 93 balls went in vain as the team chasing a target of 292 was bowled out for 272 in 48.2 overs.
Apart from the fighting knock by the skipper, only Claire Taylor (56) and Sarah Taylor (41) could take on the Kiwi bowlers, who kept the English batswomen in check. After a disastrous star which saw England lose their first two wickets for 25 runs, the only purple patch in their innings was a stand of 82 runs off 84 balls for the third wicket between Claire and Sarah.
New Zealand's medium pacer Farah Burke claimed three wickets for 42 runs, while Louis Milliken, Helen Watson, and off-spinner Aimee Mason chipped in with a wicket each.
New Zealand, who now have eight points to be at the top of the table, are virtually assured of a place in the final.
The White Ferns scored 291 for six, thanks to the fine unbeaten knock of 78 by Sarah Mc Glashan.
The Kiwis recovered from being 187-6 in 40. 5 overs with Nicola Browne (36) and Sarah putting on 104 runs for the seventh wicket.
Skipper Haidee Tiffen (58) and opener Maria Fahey (50) also made valuable contribution to the score.
For England, left-arm spinner Holly Colvin (2-40) and off-spinner Laura Newton (2-54) were the most successful bowlers. Sarah was picked 'Eve of the Match'.
