North secured an extra bonus point as they achieved the victory target of 196 in just 34 overs and pocketed a total of five points from this match.
The architect of the win was Gautam Gambhir who shared a 140-run partnership with middle-order batsman Shikhar Dhawan for the third wicket in just 24.3 overs.
Gautam's brilliant knock of 95 in just 98 balls was studded with 13 boundaries and a towering six. Shikhar chipped in with 51 runs that came off 73 balls with the help of five hits to the rope.
Shikhar was caught by R P Singh at deep fine-leg off the bowling of Pankaj Singh when North needed just three runs for victory.
With this win, North leads the Deodhar Trophy points tally with five points, followed by West Zone and East Zone with four points each. South Zone and Central Zone are yet to earn any points.
Earlier, North Zone captain Dinesh Mongia won the toss and asked the Central zone to bat first. His bowlers took two early wickets, dismissing both openers -- Faiz Fazal and Monish Mishra on individual scores of 10 and 5 respectively.
Central never recovered from the early reverses and, barring Shreyas Kanolkar who scored a defiant 57 in 86 balls with eight boundaries, collapsed and were reduced to 145 for the loss of nine wickets.
However, Murali Karthick and Pankaj Singh displayed grit and shared a 50-run partnership for the tenth wicket. Pankaj scored 28 in 31 balls with three hits to the fence and a six, while Murali lent able support with his 22 that came off 54 balls.
Central Zone 195 all out in 47 overs (S N Khanolkar 57, Pankaj Singh 28 n o, Murali Karthik 22, Mohd Kaif 19; Joginder Sharma 4 for 47, Bipul Sharma 2 for 36, Ashish Nehra 2 for 36) lost to North 197 for 3 in 34 overs (Gautam Gambhir 95 n o, S Dhawan 51; Pankaj Singh 2 for 55) by seven wickets. North earned a bonus point for chasing the target well within 40 overs.
